QA Automation Testing Lead Engineer

The Technology Team supports the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of all banking systems. This team has the expertise and commitment to developing high-quality solutions to meet the needs of a fast-paced and complex operating environment.

The Automation Testing Lead Engineer will be responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of automated test scripts that will be used to validate the quality of software applications. This is a hands-on automation testing leadership role.

Duties include:

  • Leads and mentors Automation testing team members, as well as manage vendor test automation resources in the creation and execution of Selenium Automation Scripts
  • Design and implement automation tests based on the agreed-upon regression criteria for quality assurance of all aspects of the system (e.g. functional, security, performance, resilience etc)
  • Hands on automation testing of applications using Selenium
  • Support new and existing testing processes ensures the team is using industry-accepted best practices for test creation coding methods
  • Working hands-on knowledge in a CI, TDD or BDD environment as well as Waterfall
  • Strong experience with the creation of all QA work products for their team\: Test Plans, Requirements Traceability Matrices, Test Cases, Metrics creation, Risk and Priority based testing analysis and test evidence collection
  • Generates test cases based on the requirements and other documents provided by business and development partners
  • Able to generate or mine test data as required for data-driven automation test strategies
  • Proficient in QA Defect Reporting. Working knowledge of ALM
  • Reports status of QA progress and health to senior test and project leadership
  • Partners with development and business resources in all phases of SDLC
  • Experienced in automation forecasting for new and maintenance efforts
  • Manages staff appropriately for application support
  • Cultivates and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Information Sciences, and/or technology related field required of 3-5 years in a QA Automation Testing Leadership role, 7-9 Years of overall QA experience
  • 5 years of Selenium test automation experience
  • 2 years of programming experience in Java or similar language (Java with Selenium experience is acceptable)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of JIRA workflow development experience
  • Working experience in the ALM testing suite (1-3 years)
  • 7-9 years hands-on software quality assurance testing experience
  • Experience in a Test Driven Development environment
  • Bespoke Automation experience (jBhave, jUnit or similar) a plus
  • 2+ years programming experience
  • Proficient in creating test strategies, test plans, and test cases
  • Prior QA test team leadership required
  • Must have knowledge and experience in Software Development Life Cycle
  • Ability to communicate at both functional and technical levels with their management
  • Banking domain knowledge a plus
  • Ability to communicate at both functional and technical levels with team
  • Demonstrated business acumen, problem-solving skills, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with continuous change and short deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English required)
  • Ability to operating independently and take ownership of projects/test requests, without close supervision, but also work as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a consistently changing environment
  • Minimal travel required, less than 10%

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g. Java, Javascript, Python, Ruby, Groovy, C++/C#, CSS, .Net, VBScript, SQL, etc.).
  • Must have hands-on experience in test automation tools/frameworks – Cucumber, Selenium, TestNG
  • Proficient in SQL (query, inserts, updates, joins)
  • Working knowledge API and Services testing (preferably SOAP UI, Postman or similar tools)
  • Ability to read and test XML formats
  • Advanced Excel skills
